June Martin

Jun 7th 1957 – Nov 14th 2019

June was born and raised in Leeds where she raised her seven children before moving to Bradford in the 1990’s. June was an activist and humanitarian, supporting projects and helping people throughout her life’s work. She studied homeopathy, Reiki healing, counselling and aromatherapy to name just a few of her activities.

June Martin was the co-founded of the Mpika Village of Hope through her friendship with Jenny Musakanya. She began raising funds to send to Jenny’s family in Africa during a life threatening drought in the country. June's fundraising continued, charitable status was granted in 2004, and on the 28th January 2005 Jenny Misakanya opened our orphanage in Mpika with our first five children.

June devoted the next fifteen years of her life volunteering tirelessly for the Mpika Village of Hope as well as supporting numerous other charities and the local community. Over the years, our work in Mpika has continued to expand and develop. June, created huge change in small parts of the world through her many acts of kindness, generosity and self sacrifice. Our mission is to continue her legacy and exceed her future dreams. Her book 'Precious Proof' can be bought for £10 at the mill. All proceeds to the charity.
